Indigo In the early morning light, Indigo looked at the den she and Kyro had made one last time, her heart heavy in her chest, before she turned and slowly padded away. The fields they had made their home in was the fields that sat next to a two-leg nest, which many referred to as Morgan's Farm. That farm was overrun with rats and it separated the fields from the territory of a group of cats that went by "Riverclan". After five moons of living in those fields, Indigo knew quite well where the Riverclan border was, so so she traveled parallel with it, staying several tail-lengths away from it as she headed towards the gorge. The she-cat had to stop and rest several times, her bony flanks heaving as she panted in the cold air. Once she reached the gorge, she had to turn away from the Riverclan territory and pad alongside the steep wallface, glancing a few times to look down at the rushing water below. Slowly, the river grew higher until it lapped at the sides of it's confining walls. By the time Indigo had found a good spot to cross, it was already sunhigh. The water was calmer, though it was still pretty deep with it's lower water levels and she knew she would have to be careful not to be swept away in the under current. Rather than jumping in right away, Indigo laid down next to the river and waited until her strength came back. Finally, Indigo knew she couldn't put it off any longer and struggled to her paws. With a lash of her tail, Indigo stepped into the freezing cold water and pushed off, swimming across. She could feel the water under the surface trying to grab at her paws and pull her farther down, but she kept kicking and paddling forward, never taking her eyes off of her destination. After what seemed to take forever, the river seemed to be farther across than she had thought, the mostly white she-cat set her front paws onto the other side of the riverbank and heaved herself from the waters. Her long fur was plastered to her sides, showing every bone that stuck out from her skin, as she collapsed on the solid ground, panting with the exertion. The sun had gone down a great deal by the time she lifted her head from licking herself to warm her body after the swim in an ice cold river, feeling stronger. Hopefully she would be able to find something to eat before having to find a place to sleep for the night, as she was sure she wouldn't make it before nightfall. Indigo ever so slowly stood up, feeling old beyond her years while in this state, and set out, heading back along the river in the direction she had come, only now on the other bank. Every few minutes she would stop, sniff the air, glance around the area on her side of the river, and listen to see if there were any prey around. For most of the day she had no luck until she frightened a mouse taking a drink from the river. It was instinct that made her jump forward, and pure luck that her paws actually landed on the small rodent, but she didn't care because it was much needed food for her and the little ones growing inside her. After her meal, as meager as it was it was the most she had had in the past two days, she cleaned her paws and muzzle before setting off again, leaving nothing but a small bloodstain behind. Since it was leaf-bare, nightfall came early and with it, the chill of the wind. No warmth from the sun. Indigo's fur was long, but her skinny body still felt the cold that came with the abundance of shadows. Shivering, Indigo decided to stop and look for somewhere to sleep. It took some time before she found a bush growing next to one of the few trees out here. She crawled through the bush until she reached the middle of it and curled up. She was out like a light from exhaustion. ~~~ The next morning, Indigo's internal clock woke her. She felt warm. The bush must have really insulated well against the wind. With a sigh, she got to her paws and started to crawl out of the bush, which seemed a lot lower than she remembered. She pushed her way out of the bush and gasped as it shook snow only her head. She shook her fur out when she was all the way out of the bush and glanced up. It was still snowing, though lightly. There was a good paw-high amount of snow already. More than likely there wouldn't be any prey out in this and it made her stomach growl. Indigo sighed. "I'm sorry kittens." If her calculations were correct, she probably had a moon, maybe a moon and a quarter left until she kitted. "But hopefully these cat's I'm going to will help us out." She muttered. Her paws were starting to freeze and she knew that if she stayed still any longer, the feeling would go out of them. She headed back to the edge of the gorge and made sure to keep an eye on it in the darkness, so she wouldn't slip and fall over the edge. It's sides slowly started to grow until it was back to being the gorge. Once that happened, the sun was lighting up the sky and Indigo had moved away from the gorge, knowing where she was going now. The snow had stopped a long time ago and the sun was starting to peek through the clouds. The snow would probably be mostly gone by the day's end. She stopped when the smell of strange cats, and a lot of them, hit her nose. They all smelled similar, having the moorland and open air smell that Indigo had come to love. It was a lot different than the "Riverclan" smell of river, reeds, and fish. Taking a deep breath, the thin, mostly white she-cat stepped over the scent markers and padded a few tail-lengths inside "Windclan"'s territory. Then she sat down and tried to fix her fur into something more presentable, but it wasn't very healthy, just like the rest of her. She sighed and let it be and then perked her ears when she heard the sound of paw steps. She really did hope that these cat would take her in. At least until her kits were born and she could take care of them herself. And hopefully by then Kyro would come back and they could be a family once more. That thought brought a purr to her throat as she waited for the clan cats to come closer. Words || 1166 Ooc || Introducing Indigo! Yay! (Also, long post which always makes me happy! x3 ) I'm just going to tag some people who have a WC cat, in case anyone wants to join. tigerpaw moved silently, each paw step was placed tentatively as he over thought every aspect of his life. the apprentice was free from training currently, with smalltail under the fire of starlingstar, he couldn't even join in on her training sessions with his sister while gingerstep was out of commission. it was strange, the loneliness he felt without his siblings to lead him through this time. they were all so busy, so caught up in their own lives, understandable of course, they were growing up and they needed independence and yet tigerpaw wasn't ready to be alone. with a nervous glance down at his paws as he came to a stop, his white paws kneading the earth with obvious anxiety as his thoughts drifted down the path of negativity. he was scared of being alone, he struggled to talk to anyone and everyone excluding family.
the tabby longhair started padding on again with more confidence and determination to make a friend; his green eyes fluttered against the sunlight the beamed from above through the cold leaf bare day, he could see the slight fog hanging in the air. it obscured his vision momentarily until he was able to make out the shape in the distance. he could make out the white fur, long hair like himself. she sat slightly off the border, or was she on it? he couldn't tell even as he squinted his eyes slightly before speeding his walk up with curiosity taking over, pushing away his usual anxieties. if there was a trespasser on windclan territory, he'd challenge them but this cat seemed patient, almost as though they knew they'd be approached.
as he neared, tigerpaw could make out the unusual markings that reminded him of the kittypets they sometimes saw in the barn with weird brown pointed ears, nose and paws but this cat looked like some kind of a calico mixed with the point cats? a kittypet or loner for sure, he watched her in silence as he approached, taking in her appearance. it was only when his eyes lowered slightly and he noticed the bulge of a stomach did his eyes widen, "oh," he mewed softly with his head tilted. the dusting of snow lay scattered around her, soft beneath his paws as he moved quietly not daring to speak for a moment. she was thin, not like the plump kittypets they see so often, he inspected her silently with his head tilted slightly to the side.
"oh!" he mewed a little bit louder, he had literally just been staring at her in silence for a few moments. "i'm sorry, i didn't mean to stare, i don't see many non clan cats." he stumbled over his words in a frantic apology. "i'm, uh, i'm tigerpaw, i'm from windclan and who are you and why are you here?" he mewed softly, sitting. his long tail drew over his paws as he looked up slightly at the older and larger cat. even though tigerpaw would grow to be large, he was young, sat side the fully grown and pregnant cat, he looked tiny. "you're thin, you're kits? oh, oh no. mintfeather could help you - i have no doubt, i just -" he hesitated slightly at the thought of starlingstar and how he had scolded smalltail. his body shrank slightly in fear, he didn't want the queen to suffer but he didn't want to be on the wrong side of the older leader and yet, lives were at stake and he needed to be brave. "let me get you something to eat." he mewed firmly before turning and running off into the undergrowth that was mostly twigs and frost.
prey was scarce, he shouldn't hunt for others before his clan, he knew this and yet this cat was pregnant and starving. her petruding bones made his fur ripple with discomfort at the very sight. his ears perked, listening for prey. when the cracking of twigs beneath a small weight was caught by perked ears was when he turned, dropping into a silently crouch and with a single pounce his fangs dug into the neck of a thin mouse. plucking the mouse from the frost he ran back to the queen, dropping it at her paws. "please, eat. then tell me what you're doing here." he mewed softly with his wide green eyes filled to the brim with sympathy for the she-cat.

Reddawn was out hunting for a while today. After the Thunderpath incident, he needed time to think and hunting let him do that in peace. Besides, the clan needed food with leaf-bare so near. Already a mouse and rabbit today, it was a good day. Though he guessed it had something to do with the slighter warmer weather then what was before. He is sure it will get colder once again, not that a few degrees makes a huge difference really. But the prey needed to go out and now was the best time. On his way around the boundary line, he comes across a sent and pauses, letting out a low growl. How did the parole not sense the rogue on their borders...perhaps they just haven't been here. Whatever the reason, Reddawn doesn't care, he wont let this happen, not to the clan and not surely with leaf-bare upon them. He takes off with large strides and goes over the small hill quickly, but he doesn't slow down when he sees both the rogue and Tigerpaw, no he speeds up some and growls loudly coming to a halt when he is near. Reddawn flicks his tail sharply in annoyance. He can see that Tigerpaw has fed this rogue, even if she is expecting kits, he rogue should go to a twoleg home for help. "Tigerpaw! What are you doing? The clan always comes first before rogues, no matter if they are expecting kits." Now he turns his growl to the rogue. He knows he should probably be nicer with the queen rogue, but not now. "Why are you here...go back the twoleg homes, they will help you." The clan comes first.

Indigo A tom was padding towards her. A long haired tabby tom. A small one at that. Was he perhaps just young or were all of the cats from this "Windclan" so small? She was thinking it was the first but what did she know? She'd never met one of them before. Indigo had't realized they were staring at one another until the tom spoke. "Oh. i'm sorry, i didn't mean to stare, i don't see many non clan cats." He seemed to be nervous so she gave him a small smile and purred softly as he continued on. "i'm, uh, i'm tigerpaw, i'm from windclan and who are you and why are you here?" Indigo purred. Maybe not all of the cats in the wild were the same. This tom, Tigerpaw, wasn't acting hostile like she had come to expect from what Kyro had told her of the clan cats. And he had been alone, not in a small group of cats like she'd been told they always do. "My name is Indigo. I'm what you would call a loner I guess and I was actually hoping to talk with your..." She had to think for a moment. What had Kyro called the cat in charge? "Your leader? That's what you call the cat in charge, correct?" She hoped she was doing this correctly and that she could at least meet with the one in charge. "you're thin, you're kits? oh, oh no. mintfeather could help you - i have no doubt, i just -" She felt slightly subconscious of how she looked. She probably looked horrible. If only she was better at hunting. Then she could take care of herself until her mate came back and she wouldn't have to bother these cats with her troubles. Her head tilted and her ears went back slightly when the young tom before her seemed to shrink back in fear as he paused in his sentence. She could even smell a little bit of that fear coming off of him. She hoped it wasn't because of her. She tilted her head away and down, hoping to look a little less threatening. She really needed to have a chance to meet with Tigerpaw's leader. Finally the young tabby continued his sentence. "let me get you something to eat." Her mouth started to water at the thought of food and her stomach seemed to have heard what he had said because it growled. It took her a moment before she realized he hadn't sounded scared. In fact he sounded almost...determined? Was that it? The young tom named Tigerpaw was gone seconds after speaking and she waited quietly, not moving an inch in any direction except down as she laid down and curled her paws under her to hopefully warm them. He was back much sooner than she would have been and dropped a mouse before her. "please, eat. then tell me what you're doing here." She stared at the piece of prey with hungry eyes and a watering mouth but it felt wrong to eat it. Sucking in a deep breath, which was probably the wrong thing to do since the scent of fresh, warm blood made her stomach rumble so badly it sounded like thunder and it gave her cramps, Indigo got back up to her paws, lifting her head away from the mouse and shaking her head slightly. "Why don't we share it? After all, you are the one who caught it."The sound of thundering paws reached her ears a little late as even the small bit of snow had been muffling the sound a little. She flinched back at the sound of an angry and curt voice. "Tigerpaw! What are you doing? The clan always comes first before rogues, no matter if they are expecting kits." It was another tom and this one seemed more like the type of cat Kyro had warned her about. Once he reached them he turned his angry words to her. "Why are you here...go back the twoleg homes, they will help you." Indigo flattened her ears and pulled away from him, curling around herself as she unconsciously protected the unborn kits in her belly. Her blue eyes flashed and she showed the tips of her fangs as she spoke. "I'll never go back there to get help from twolegs." She hissed. She could even smell the fear scent that was coming off of herself. "They'll take my kits away! Just like last time!" Indigo struggled to control herself and had to take several deep breaths before her fur settled back down and she was able to seat herself. Indigo dipped her head to the two toms. "I'm sorry for my outburst. I didn't mean any harm. I only came because I wanted to speak with your leader. Would you please allow me to speak with them?"Words || 836 Ooc || Typing this up, I keep thinking Indigo has a soft of different kind of accent than the clan cats. lol Tagged || Kuwaki || rain

tigerpaw looked at her with wide eyes as she offered to share the food. it was unusual for a rogue or kittypet to offer to share - the legends of the windclan loners who passed through hundreds of moons ago. windclan had been friends to these cats, tigerpaw remembered the elders' stories so when reddawn showed up with hostility burning beneath his fur with his lips pulled back in disgust. the young apprentice knew he needed to stand his ground and firmly back up his beliefs in helping this cat, but he couldn't help but flinch back at the toms tone, stepping infront of indigo to cover her defensively as he crouched before her with his ears pulled back. but the soft spoken queen suprised him with a hiss, he nearly leaped from his skin as he turned to look at her with wide green eyes, the volume shared between the two cats becoming so loud that he felt his chest swell and his breath was hard to catch, his paws seemed to go numb and sharp pricked ran beneath them like ants were poking his paw pads with thorns. shutting his eyes with a deep gasp he held his breath for a moment before opening his eyes his little panic unnoticeable to those without a trained eye for such things.
standing up to his full height, smaller than bought cats, still. his head held high with his voice shaking as he began, "i know the code, reddawn but no cat should suffer. leafbare has just begun and we are still well fed, she however is not and like us, she has so many mouths to feed but unlike us she doesn't have food." he mewed.
his eyes flicking back to indigo as he tried to imagine smalltail and her abrasive confidence to help fuel his own confidence. although she was too much for him, her confidence was something he envied and wished to adopt and there was no better time to start practicing his skill with confidence than now.
with a firm nod to indigo tigerpaws eyes softened. "please come meet starlingstar, i can see him being sympathetic to the cause but first - eat. we have enough back at camp," and with a glance to reddawn he continued with narrowed eyes, "no kits to feed, im sure one small piece of prey won't be missed by us." and with that he left her to eat before walking over to reddawn his mind and heart racing simultaneously.
"reddawn, i may not be a warrior yet, but gingerstep taught me well - you need to make friends where you can, she taught me that and right now shes probably dying in mintfeathers den so give me this. let me honour my mentor, please." he urged softly, his voice cracking slightly.

Reddawn growls at the loners outburst at him. She was a stupid fool if she thought she could do nothing to keep her kits. "Then you fight back against the twolegs and harm them. Find a barn, sneak into a twoleg home, make your own den. Or better yet, don't go get pregnant during leaf-bare." Reddawn knows that there is a barn somewhere close by that can keep a cat warm, he has seen a loner or two go there before so this loner has places to go.
When Tigerpaw stands his ground and starts to speak against him, Reddawn turns his gaze towards Tigerpaw, his eyes not as hostile or cold as they were to the loner, he wont be that cruel to his clanmate, not now. "She can feed herself, she has options and that doesn't mean coming here is the first one. Leafbare has just begun yes, but it will only get harder from here on out and that means there is no guarantee that her kits would even survive the cold and sparse food. It takes prey away from your clanmates when you bring in loners." Reddawns voice is still hard as he says this, but not as hard as when he talks to the shecat.
When Tigerpaw decides to invite the loner into the territory and even more so, into the camp further from here, Reddawn now hardens back up against his clanmate and lets lose and low growl in warning to him before he says in a firm tone that ends this debate. "This loner is not going anywhere near the camp Tigerpaw. You overstep your boundaries by thinking you can take this loner further past the border." While Tigerpaw may be right that one mouse wont be a huge loss to the clan, Reddawn will not allow this loner further past the border without Starlingstars permission first and that doesn't mean taking the loner there to get it.
Reddawn looks down at Tigerpaw when he comes near. When he starts to speak and try to use the sympathy card on him, Reddawn only growls lowly. "You should be in camp if you are that worried about your mentor, not out here alone where you could also be hurt. Your mentor wouldn't lead a loner into camp, even if they are a queen, she would send someone back." Reddawn flicks his tail towards camp. "Go back to camp and talk to Starlingstar if you want, but this loner is not going any further into out territory." Reddawn isn't going to be changing his mind about this, no matter what Tigerpaw does or says. Starlingstar is the leader and can allow a cat into the camp.

Indigo "Then you fight back against the twolegs and harm them. Find a barn, sneak into a twoleg home, make your own den. Or better yet, don't go get pregnant during leaf-bare." Indigo pinned her ears back at what Reddawn (what a strange name) growled at her. She'd never fought against anything, and she had seen that fighting against twolegs did no good, like when Kyro had fought the twoleg that had been taking their kit. And she did have her own den, the problem was her hunting skills. She was only able to catch stuff by dumb luck. The two toms seemed to be fighting now, with words, rather than claws as she had somewhat come to expect. But if she looked close enough she could see fondness? compassion? for one another, as she had seen from cats who felt like family but weren't blood related or mates. She wondered what that was like. Perhaps she would find out. If she wasn't run off by their leader, that is. Tigerpaw finally turned back to her and she saw the look in his eyes soften as he took her in once more. She knew she looked horrible but that realization was made more real by the young tom noticing. "please come meet starlingstar, i can see him being sympathetic to the cause but first - eat. we have enough back at camp," The long-haired tabby was definitely stubborn and while Indigo was stubborn herself, her growling stomach was telling her it agreed with Tigerpaw. Slowly she leaned down towards the mouse with a glance at the other tom, making sure he wouldn't attack her while she was occupied. When it seemed he was occupied at the moment with Tigerpaw having gone up to him to talk more privately, she didn't hesitate as she bit into the mouse. A small groan escaped her mouth at how delicious it tasted and within moments it was gone, all of it except fro a few drops of blood on the ground before her. Indigo cleaned her paws and face, feeling better now that she had eaten. She finally zoned back into what was being said and listened to the older tom speak. "Your mentor wouldn't lead a loner into camp, even if they are a queen, she would send someone back. Go back to camp and talk to Starlingstar if you want, but this loner is not going any further into out territory." She didn't like the idea of being alone with that tom, but noticed he wasn't likely to change his mind. She was only a few tail-lengths past the border, but she was still within their territory. Indigo didn't want them to fight anymore so she spoke up. "It's alright Tigerpaw, perhaps you should go and talk to your leader and see if it is alright for me to come and talk with him.I'll be fine waiting here."Words || 500 Ooc || Rain, I get that Reddawn is all for the warrior code, but I'm pretty sure that in the books, the cats that find a cat wanting to speak with their leader, normally takes them to camp. That might just be for when clan cats want to speak with a leader from another clan, but I still feel it might be the same thing. a low growl as reddawn invalidated his honestly, any cat with eyes could see that tigerpaw struggled but at this point in time the warrior was just being stubborn and rude. he lifted his lip slightly as he demanded indigo fight against the twolegs, his tail lashing furiously. in no point in time prior to this, no cat had seen tigerpaw in such a state of frustration or anger with another being who he truly admired for their skills. it would be the first time he raised his voice at any other cat as he growled loudly; "enough of this, reddawn!" his voice was fierce and firm though his legs trembled as he lifted his head in a dominant stance.
"you know nothing of loyalty to our clan if you refuse to bring another into the camp; another with kits - kits who can become warriors if she chose that path for them, kits and fierce adult who can become our allies." he snapped. reddawn couldn't seem to open his eyes and see the oppurtinities befriend this cat could bring, never mind the fact that aiding a pregnant she cat was the right thing to do.
"you should be in camp if you are that worried about your mentor, not out here alone where you could also be hurt. your mentor wouldn't lead a loner into camp, even if they are a queen, she would send someone back." he let out a loud hiss at the words.
"you don't know gingerstep, don't pretend you know her better than me." his voice low and threatening as the emotional apprentice defended his mentor honor. "you can't see beyond your own nose, can you?" he mewed, anger breaking and turning into obvious exasperation.
"you forget that windclan need every cat right now, times of peace don't last for ever, reddawn." he turned to look at indigo who had finally eaten the prey he caught her. he through her a small smile that didn't really meet his eyes before turning back to reddawn with the same hardened glare he reserved only for rare moments such as this, where he truly felt as though he would need to attack another cat; though he wouldn't. taking a deep breath, the tom continued. "if i sat in the camp worrying about her, what good would that do? this queen probably would have had her throat ripped out by you; i'd get sick from sitting around all the time plagued with anxiety, chances are greencough would settle in my chest and windclan would lose an apprentice which means losing a warrior." he mewed confidently, trying to embody the confidence of sandpaw, the more boisterous sibling of their litter.
"i don't intend to disrespect you, reddawn. you are a fantastic warrior and i truly admire you but you need to open your eyes and look at it from her paws - wouldn't you want help when your starved, unable to fight twolegs, with kits, i know i'd want help." he looked at her, stepping closer to show he truly was determined to push this cat beyond the border.
"it's alright tigerpaw, perhaps you should go and talk to your leader and see if it is alright for me to come and talk with him. i'll be fine waiting here." his eyes widened at her words, though he could see in her stance that she wasn't entirely comfortable with reddawn and her being alone, not that he could fault her for that, he trusted the tom not to do anything and yet he wanted to stay by her side as well.
turning a cold glare on reddawn his voice low, "i'll be back in a few moments." the threat clear in his stance, that if reddawn dared to harm the queen, tigerpaw wasn't sure what he would do; but it wouldn't be fun for him.
with one final glance and nod to indigo, tigerpaw bounded off in the direction of the windclan camp leaving the two of them behind him. he was quick, like his mentor had taught him, he ran with perfect form. as he arrived at the camp he skidded through the entrance avoiding the looks warriors threw him for his loud entrance, his eyes intentionally avoiding the medicine cat den as he ran to starlingstars den, his manners not forgotten as he waited outside the entrance before entering.
"starlingstar, there's a situation i feel only you can settle." he mewed from outside the den, his voice suprisingly confident as he addressed the leader; his adrenaline from arguing with reddawn still running through his veins.

Reddawn just stares Tigerpaw down as he talks. He could keep arguing with the apprentice but to be honest, Reddawn doesn't want to repeat himself. Tigerpaw feels like he has to help others now that his mentor is hurt. Yes the clan needs warriors but to be honest, its not Tigerpaws place to decide whether or not a cat gets to come to the camp, that's Starlingstars job. As Tigerpaw takes off, Reddawn turns to look at Indigo and looks at her for a few moments before he speaks, voice hard yes, but still not as cold as it was before. "I'm not going to hurt you. Whether you believe me or not, is up to you. So long as you don't try anything that is."
Reddawn takes a seat now, instead of standing. Tigerpaw has to run back to camp, gather Starlingstar and anyone else he wants to bring, and then make it back, which will take time. "Its strange that you would come to cats who could very well have killed you on sight instead of going to a place you know will take care of you. Did you not think of moving the kits as soon as they were old enough to be moved before the Twolegs got to them?"

Starlingstar
Starlingstar headed into camp leafbare was here. He could feel it in his bones, he would have to have one of the apprentices or Smalltail to clean out his nest for a new one. It was quite old and he was feeling it. The large black tom had dismissed his apprentice Emberpaw to get some chores done today and he finally retreated from his den. He sat down in his nest when he remembered that he was going to stop by the medicine cat den to check in on Gingerstep. It had been a few days since the ginger warrior was hit by a monster. He would check in on her late but now it was time for a much needed nap. The black tom started to lay down in his nest when he heard the paws steps from the outside of his den. Tasting the air the tom smelt that it was an apprentice. He knew who it was before he heard the voice call from the outside of his den. Starlingstar just slowly stood up and shook out his joints as Tigerpaw voice flooded in his ears.
He stopped surprised that this tom spoke with confidence. It was something Starlingstar didn't expect from the young tom. Thats why he gave this apprentice to Gingerstep in the first place. Because Gingerstep was confident and he was glad that the young tom was getting some of that from the warrior. Though he was curious to know what was going on so the leader emerged from the den. He looked down at Tigerpaw, the tom was young still but from the looked he would grow into his paws to be a good Windclan height. He just said, "Whats the situation Tigerpaw?" He knew that this had to be good cause this apprentice wouldn't be so confident if it wasn't/

Indigo Indigo watched as Tigerpaw streaked away. It was amazing how fast he could run. She missed the nice young tom already but knew this was the way it should be. It was surprising at how hostile Tigerpaw seemed to get in defense of her, after all he barely knew her! But he had a kind heart. She could see that. And if he could just keep it and turn the negativity around him into positive energy, he would grow into a fine tom. She had a slight smile on her maw until the other tom spoke. The mostly white she-cat was surprised that his voice wasn't nearly as cold as before. Perhaps he had just been putting on a show for Tigerpaw? "I'm not going to hurt you. Whether you believe me or not, is up to you. So long as you don't try anything that is." No, she didn't think so. He just wanted to remind the younger tom of..of..what had they called it? The warrior code. Yeah, that was it. He had just wanted to remind Tigerpaw of the warrior code. Whatever that was. This whole place was a jumble of new and exciting things. She had thought she had known what went on around here, but she must have been mistaken or she just hadn't gotten the whole picture. But despite the curiosity running beneath her fur and the warm belly she had from that mouse, she was feeling tired and weak again, so she settled down from a sitting position to a laying position, knowing it made her more vulnerable. Did it really matter? She was vulnerable no matter what. If he truly wanted to hurt her, there was nothing she'd be able to do to stop him. She glanced over at the older tom. At Reddawn (still such a strange name). He was now sitting rather than standing and it made her relax more. She hadn't realized how tense she had been. "Its strange that you would come to cats who could very well have killed you on sight instead of going to a place you know will take care of you. Did you not think of moving the kits as soon as they were old enough to be moved before the Twolegs got to them?" His voice made Indigo jump slightly and she looked at him until she realized he wasn't attacking. Once she realized that, her heart started to calm down and she could think about what he had said. The calico point she-cat looked away, her blue eyes searching for the form of Tigerpaw even though she knew she wouldn't be able to see him for a little while. "I don't live in the Twoleg Place. I live in a field on the other side of the gorge." She paused, her blue eyes still searching the moorlands before them. "I lived in a den with my mate. We had been making trips into the Twoleg Place to gather things to make our den better for leafbare. We had always been so careful because we knew what would happen if twolegs caught us. It had happened to Kyro before, my mate. And one day, just one day, we weren't as careful as we normally were. We were playing in this abandoned barn that other loners always go to. There were other cats there and no one was really alert at the time. And then all of the sudden the doors fling open and Twolegs are capturing cats left and right. Kyro told me to run and I did. I knew he was behind me at first but he must have been caught when we were escaping. I didn't realize it until I was a long ways away. By then it was too late, and when I went back, their monsters were leaving. I tried to follow so I could know where they were taking him, but I wasn't fast enough. I've spent the last moon looking for him and waiting for him to escape and come find me. I only realized a quarter of a moon ago that I was going to be having kits. And with leafbare here now, there isn't as much prey out. I knew the groups of cats living out here didn't like others, but you guys are my last chance. I just need help until my kits are old enough for me to look after them myself. Or until Kyro returns and we can do it together." She trailed off and glanced over at Reddawn. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to tell you all that. You didn't ask for all that." She looked away again and set her head on her paws, her blue gaze watching for any movement. tigerpaw waited until he heard the leader stirring, taking a step back to allow him room when he stepped out from his den. as the large tom appeared tigerpaw instantly dipped his head in respect as he asked what tigerpaw had to say. looking back up, his hesitance returning in the presence of the leader. he could already feel the anxiety returning, the coil tightening in his chest just as he took a deep breath in an attempt to soothe his mind as it raced along with thoughts of negativity before meeting starlingstars eyes with an upward tilt of his head.
"theres a loner, her name is indigo and she's sat at the border and reddawn is with her right now." he began softly, his words wavering beneath his leaders confident gaze; for all he knew the leader would disagree with him and scold him thoroughly for his choices which he truly feared, his tail twitching nervously.
"she's weak, she's incredibly pregnant and starving. i knew we had little members this coming leafbare so i caught her a scraggly piece of prey;" he mewed quickly, he couldn't lie about this. even if it was technically breaking the warrior code, he couldn't let a cat starve, it just wasn't in the tom to allow a she-cat and her innocent kits die.
"i couldn't see her like that, you could practically smell her starvation, i couldn't let innocent kits understand but theres more to this, i promise i wanted to bring her to you instead of dragging you from the camp but reddawn insisted i fetch you; she's so helpless i didn't see issue with bring her here, a kit could beat her in battle, i assure you, she needs our help." he mewed, his eyes showing his obvious want to aid the cat as the slur of words left his mouth in an attempt to convince the leader, though he wasn't sure he was being entirely coherent.
an idea sparked in his mind, "we could bring mintfeather, i know you won't want to help her, it's coming to leafbare and times will get hard but perhaps mintfeather could show insight on how far along she is, advise her on how get her kits to survive the cold season; please, starlingstar. we can't just do nothing." his voice sounded strained, as though he was holding back a flood of emotions. with his mentor injured in the medicine cat den, perhaps he felt the need to help others when he could not help her after all the she-cat had done for him. his tail twitched nervously as he awaited the leaders choice.

Starlingstar
Starlingstar watched as the young tom padded back to let him out of the den. He looked down and watched as Tigerpaw dipped his head respectfully to the leader. He just was glad that a warrior was teaching their apprentice some respect. He already just punished someone for that and he really didn't want to do that again. He then focused on the tom now who started to speak. He said something about a loner and that Reddawn was with him. Starlingstar grumbled and snapped, "Why didn't you just chase it off? I don't have time to deal with warriors and apprentice that can't even follow the warrior code." The leader really didn't have time to deal with this, Reddawn out of all warriors should know the warrior code and so should Tigerpaw. He didn't have time to deal with mousebrained cats that he could go up to a kit and ask them what they would do and have a better answer. Starlingstar started padding away but thats when the tom started speaking again.
Starlingstar stopped dead in his tracks he whipped around on the apprentice so fast. His claws were unsheathed, his his face had a glare that was pinned on the apprentice. He just snapped "YOU FEED THE LONER? Don't you know the warrior code, I don't care if they were starving think about your own clanmates!" Leafbare was on there Starlingstar already notice that the pile was smaller than usual and he had been out with his own apprentice and felt the coldness from the breeze make the prey disappear. He would have to deal with this apprentice later though right now probably this confrontation would teach the young tom a lesson. He was just praising the cat in his brain about respect and now he just broke the warrior code. This just can't get any worse can it brother He asked his brother up in the stars. He then just sighed as the apprentice continued on about that they couldn't do nothing. He just said his voice sharp, "Wait for me by the camp entrance." He flicked his tail and padded over to the medicine cat den. He decided that he would have Mintfeather check the she-cat before sending her on her way.
He padded over to Mintfeather's den his stride a bit stiff from the cold weather. He padded into the dark den and said his voice angry, "Mintfeather do you have a moment, we have a loner on the border that is pregnant apparently and I want you to check her over before we send her off the territory." He wasn't gonna leave a possibly injured she-cat who was expecting kits out but he wasn't bringing her to camp wither. With leafbare upon them he didn't want any outsiders to bring in sicknesses. He wasn't gonna take the chance of loosing anymore good warriors from sickness like his brother lost his life. He waited for the she-cat to respond before heading out back to where Tigerpaw was hopefully waiting.

Reddawn keeps his eyes on the loner in front of him even after she lays down. If someone was to come up from behind him from where the camp is, he will know, he could hear them or feel them on the ground after the thud of the paws. This pregnant shecat is no threat to him because she could very well lose her kits in the process, but the fact that he is trained, while she is not. As Reddawn listens to her story he doesn't feel sympathetic at all. Cats who live outside a twolegs nest have it hard. Its that simple. Just because your mate was taken away doesn't mean anything to him. Everyone loses someone. Its the way of Starclan when they call them up. As for Windclan being her last chance, he suppresses a laugh and only rolls his eyes. "No, we aren't your last chance. The twolegs are also a chance, you are just scared that they will take your kits from you. There are also other loners out there that could help you too." If your mate is taken from you from one place, stay there or close by don't go somewhere that your mate wouldn't know where to go to find you. That's common sense to him. How the heck is your mate supposed to find you if your not where you were before. "You say that as soon as your kits are old enough for you to take care of them yourself that you will probably leave with them? If Starlingstar agrees with Tigerpaw that you can stay and not with me, then your kits will probably stay here with us indefinitely." There was no way that Reddawn would be calm about having this loner stay the leaf-bare and take their prey and their time and then leave as soon as her kits were old enough while she doesn't put in anything to help out? No, Reddawn will not lay down for that. Everyone does their share if they want to eat or they had helped before they became a queen or elder. Tags: Minteh Freshness Kuwaki Edda Rose

Mintfeather
"Mintfeather do you have a moment, we have a loner on the border that is pregnant apparently and I want you to check her over before we send her off the territory." Mintfeather perked up at the sound of Starlingstar's voice and glanced back at her stores. Should she take something with her? Surely he would have told her if she was wounded, right? So she's probably not wounded, but a pregnant she-cat would need strength in leafbare and it was doubtful anyone was going to go to the moonstone soon and she had plenty of the strengthening herbs. Surely giving another cat some would be fine. With a nod to herself, she moved back into her herb stores. "Alright, I'll be right out!" She grabbed a carrying leaf and set a couple daisy leaves and some burnet onto the leaf before wrapping it up and heading out of her den with a final glance to Gingerstep to make sure she was still sleeping.
The off-white she-cat limped out of her den and glanced at Starlingstar and nodded, her mouth full with the carrying leaf. With that, she set off towards the camp entrance, which Tigerpaw was waiting at so it must have been the young tom who brought this information to Starlingstar. She nodded to him to let him know to lead the way. She needed a head start on Starlingstar. He had much longer limbs than her and also didn't have a limp like her.

Indigo She wasn't expecting any sympathy from the tom but she was a little surprised at how cold he was being. "No, we aren't your last chance. The twolegs are also a chance, you are just scared that they will take your kits from you." She didn't comment on that one. He obviously didn't know anything about kittypet life if he thought it was just a fear and not a reality. There are also other loners out there that could help you too." That was probably true but in her experience, loners liked to move around so some of them probably wouldn't want to stick around just to feed a pregnant cat that was useless at hunting. If this didn't go well, as she was starting to see it might, she would probably have to do just that. But Kyro would more than likely know that she had gone to the clans rather than to loners. At least the clans had a code, she wasn't sure about all loners. "My mate has told me about the clans ever since I first met him and I'm sure he'd know that I went to you guys." She was both certain and also worried that he might not think that way. His next words shocked her. "You say that as soon as your kits are old enough for you to take care of them yourself that you will probably leave with them? If Starlingstar agrees with Tigerpaw that you can stay and not with me, then your kits will probably stay here with us indefinitely." She didn't know what to say. Would that really happen? Perhaps Kyro would be able to join then too once he found her? She couldn't lose her kits again, even if it meant she had to stay with them in a clan with strange cats. Indigo decided not to say anything else. She didn't know what to say and she wanted to wait for their leader so she could explain everything to him. At least then she'd be able to give him reasons for why she should be able to stay with them. And if not for only a little while, then indefinitely as the tom had said. It made her wince slightly as she didn't know how Kyro would take that kind of news. Indigo stared past Reddawn, hoping the others would come back soon. Hoping that Tigerpaw would be back. She needed a little bit of help with staying calm and he was a nice cat, even if he had an almost nervous energy to him. Words || 697 Ooc || --- Tagged || Kuwaki || rain || Edda Rose
