personality:
~Quiet~
Mintfeather is, and always has been a quiet cat. That is what makes her such a good listener. A lot of cats have come to her to just vent or tell of their adventures or accomplishments that day. Mint doesn't judge the cats on what they did but she will give them advice on how to proceed or who else they should tell, like the leader or deputy. She may even offer to go with them if they seemed extremely nervous.
~Calm~
Mintfeather is calm because in stressful situations, when other cats see her calmness, it helps calm them down too. When a cat is hurt or afraid, her being calm and saying calming words helps a lot, especially in her line of business with being a medicine cat and all. She is also slow to anger, though she wasn't always like that. She became like that after becoming a medicine cat. She does have a temper and can be hot headed at times, but it rarely happens. It normally only occurs with cats close to her because she allows herself to show more emotion with them. She also has a silver tongue but with how calm and quiet she is, she hardly ever uses it.
~Sweet/Caring~
Even before Mintfeather became a medicine cat, she was sweet and caring towards everyone, even cats from outside clans. It doesn't bother her or change her when someone looses their temper with her or when they become snarky. She just smiles and purrs as if they were a cute kit playing.
~Loyal~
Mintfeather is an extremely loyal cat. She is a loyal friend but if you break her loyalty, it will take a long time and a lot of work to build it back up. She is loyal to her clan, her leader and deputy, and her clanmates. But she is also loyal to Starclan and if she believes there is a path that Starclan wants her to follow, even if it is helping out another clan, she feels obligated to follow that path. Even with that, she believes even Starclan sometimes makes mistakes and she will follow what she feels is the right and correct path, even if it wasn't the path Starclan had shown her.
~Lighthearted~
Mintfeather always tries to keep cats' spirits up and even though she is quiet, she will speak up to make that happen. Even if things bug her, like her legs and what happened, she will still make fun of it if it will get someone to laugh and feel better. Mintfeather thinks that it is her duty to help others and that can either be when they are wounded, ill, sad, or upset. If she sees a cat in need, she is compelled to help in whatever way she can.
~Stubborn/Patient~
Mintfeather can be very hard headed and will make it very difficult for someone else to get their way if she is really set on something. And she can be amazingly patient until she does get her way. Now that doesn't mean she gets her way all the time or even most of the time. It just means that when she feels strongly about something, she won't give up. Also, when she wants revenge, like when someone pulls a prank on her, these traits aren't always good for the other feline because this she-cat doesn't forget.
history:
|| Kithood ||
Mintkit was born in Windclan to Honeyflower, a long-haired Bengal she-cat, and Foxwhisker, a reddish brown tabby tom. She had one sibling, a brother named Cloudkit, who was a long-haired silver tabby. As a kit she was quiet, barely ever talking but always playing. She's always of had energy, even if it seems like she shouldn't have it anymore. Her brother had just as much energy but he was a lot more outspoken. Mintkit had a relatively quiet kithood. Her parents were perfect and loved their kits with all their hearts. Foxwhisker visited his kits often and would bring his mate prey, and then also his kits when they were old enough to eat meat. There were no other kits in the nursery until Mintkit and Cloudkit were 5 moons old. By then, they were too old to pay much attention to the younger kits other than to marvel at how small they were, though Mintkit would always offer to watch the younger kits. Mintkit and Cloudkit often played Leader. Cloudkit was always the Leader and Mintkit was always the Deputy but she never minded. Mintkit would often watch the warriors and she quietly dreamed of becoming the best warrior in the clan. The two siblings often tried to get the apprentices to play with them or show them how to hunt or fight. Both kits loved these sessions all the way up to when they were apprenticed.
|| Apprentice ||
At 6 moons old Mintkit was apprentices with Cloudkit. They became Mintpaw and Cloudpaw. Mintpaw loved her mentor, Riverheart. The two had really close personalities and Mintpaw was always trying to please her mentor. Riverheart helped her to do even more than just hunt and fight, she helped the young she-cat to be herself. Mintpaw became a little more outspoken, calm, patient, and lighthearted. With these changes, Mintpaw was able to involve herself more with the other apprentices. She also did more things that she wanted, like playing with the kittens and teaching them some moves. One apprentice had caught her eye but she was too shy to express how much she liked him. With the changes her mentor was helping her with, Mintpaw became more confident in the things she did and she put her all into everything she tried. If she didn't get a fighting move right when practicing with her mentor and other apprentices, she would go out at night or when she had free time, and practice it until she got it down to where she could do it in her sleep. She then surprised the other apprentices and mentors the next time because of how well she did the move. Mintpaw would also sometimes add her own style to it to make the move easier and faster for her. The young tom that she had a crush on, Nettlepaw, was one of the ones who got a surprise the next time they practiced fighting moves and after that, he kept his eye on the quiet she-cat. After a couple moons, the two got closer until they were nearly inseparable. He became a warrior soon after but with how fast Mintpaw was learning and becoming great at almost everything she did, she became a warrior quickly after him, at the age of 11 moons. Cloudpaw was still learning but he was working hard and he had calmed down over time. He became a warrior at 12 moons. They earned the names Mintfeather and Cloudfang.
|| Warrior ||
It was no surprise when Mintfeather and Nettleclaw announced they were mates, soon after they had both become warriors. The two felines tried to go on patrols together whenever they could. Neither had spoken about having kits, though Mintfeather would have loved to have some. When Honeyflower and Foxwhisker announced they were having another litter, Mintfeather finally scrounged up the courage to talk to her mate about having kits. He agreed. A moon later the medicine cat confirmed her hopes and Mintfeather took Nettleclaw out on a walk. She was so nervous that she ran to a secluded spot in their territory. Finally, she stopped and told the young warrior that they were expecting. They were both so happy and excited, neither one noticed until it was too late that a large dog was near. They tried to run but even with being fast Windclan warriors, the dog had had a head start and gained on them before they got far. The dog grabbed Mintfeather's back right leg in it's jaws, snapping the bones easily. The she-cat yowled out in pain and tried to twist out of the beast's grasp, even trying to swipe at it's muzzle with her front paws. The dog threw her up in the air as if she were a toy and as she came back down, it closed it's teeth around her left front leg. He shook her around like a rag doll and then dropped her and started pawing and biting at her. Mintfeather was in a lot of pain but she tried to fight the canine, though her attacks were weak. Nettleclaw had heard her yowl of pain and had skidded to a stop. He had stared at the scene with wide eyes, shocked into a standstill, before he finally got a hold of himself and attacked the dog. The fight seemed to last forever before a border patrol finally came after all the noise and commotion. The attacked just as the dog wrapped it's jaws around Nettleclaw's back. The dog dropped him and fought with the patrol until it realized it was out matched. It was chased off, wounded. The patrol had sent for more warriors and they came just as some from the border patrol came back to Mintfeather and Nettleclaw. The new batch of cats split up, sending cats to the border to help the others make sure the dog stayed gone, and the rest stayed took the wounded back to camp. The medicine cat tried to do what he could, but Nettleclaw was already dead from a broken back and neck. Mintfeather nearly died from blood loss but slowly came back. He back right leg had been broken in two places and her front left was broken once. ...And... she had lost her kittens. Despite her legs being put back into the right spots and splinted, they never healed correctly. Even with that, she never gave up her dream of being the best warrior for Nettleclaw and their kittens' sakes. Not even after the medicine cat and Starlingstar told her she could never be a warrior again. She didn't believe it until she snuck out one night and tried to run and practice fighting moves. When she tried to run, her legs pained her so badly that she had to stop. She had been panting so badly from the pain. And when she tried to practice fighting techniques, her legs gave out on her. Mintfeather was appalled that she would have to become an elder so soon after becoming a warrior. She was only 17 moons after all. She headed back to camp, defeated, and rested in the medicine cat's den for a few days.
It was like the life had gone out of her. Finally, after a few day, the medicine cats spoke to Starlingstar about how he didn't have an apprentice and he thought Mintfeather would do better if she had something to do to help the clan still since she was still so young. Starlingstar agreed and they presented the idea to the she-cat the next day. She didn't say anything other than sighing, which they took as an agreement. That night, the leader announced her becoming the medicine cat's apprentice.
||Medicine Cat ||
Mintfeather went through the motions of learning herbs and how to treat wounds and all of that. Even when her parents had their second litter of kittens, she still didn't do anything other than hide herself away in the medicine cat's den. She still hadn't broken out of her melancholy state until her old mentor, Riverheart, visited her. The older she-cat cuffed Mintfeather over the ear, surprising the med cat apprentice out of her stupor. Riverheart gave her a pep talk and at the end of it, seeing that it wasn't working too well, she asked Mintfeather what Nettleclaw would want her to do. Would he want her to waste her life away, mourning him, or would he want her to live her life to the fullest, helping others and being the she-cat that he loved. With those words in her mind, Mintfeather slowly started to wake up and resort back to her old self. Even going so far to do everything in her power to help those around her and bright life and light into the Clan.
Several moons later, the medicine cat, Sagetail, joined Starclan and Mintfeather became the main medicine cat. That was when she was 29 moons old. She has been proudly serving her clan and Starclan for 7 moons.
