☀ ICECLAW ☀
NAME: icekit - icepaw - iceclaw
GENDER: male
AGE: 65
CLAN: shadowclan
POSITION: warrior
SHORT DESCRIPTION: Broad shouldered tom cat with intense amber eyes.
APPEARANCE:
Born as the runt of his litter, Iceclaw has remained smaller than most tom cats, but don't let his height deceive you. He has a broad muscular build, his hind legs are incredibly muscular perfect for pouncing. His shorter legs prevent him from running too fast, though his strength makes up for his bad agility. Although small, his paws are intimidating, medium in size but his claws are constantly kept sharp and incredibly long. His muzzle is pure white as is his hind legs paws. He has long matted fur that is rough to the touch with a wiry like appearance. He keeps it as clean as he can, but it's difficult. His maw is scared and a long gash rips across his nose leaving a bald patch on his muzzle. His left ear is nicked deeply creating a v shape on the usually pointed ear. He is missing his right dew claw from an accident that never healed correctly which resulted in its unintentional removal.
His body is littered with various scars and scratched from previous battles. His tail is long and bushy like a fox, it's tipped white though the rest of it is an ash grey colour like the rest of his pelt. He could be described best as a long haired tabby cat, the fur that lines his face fades from a dark grey to a paler tone almost cream. He has dark brown tabby markings on his forehead, his brows two black dots above large rounded eyes that are a deep amber. The perimeter of his iris is dark brown almost black, his eyes are lined with a small ring of white fur that blends neatly into his dominant ash coloured fur. His body loses tabby like markings and seems to display various tones flecked in the fur of greys, creams, blacks and browns. His legs are lined with black stripes and his paws a pale grey colour except from his hind legs - the paws on his hind quarters are a pure white.
PERSONALITY:
Despite his unfortunate beginning Iceclaw does not let his "runt" and "weak" entrance to the world become something he would be labelled with. He is a powerful out spoken tom cat who has spent many moons serving his clan. He has an aggressive and ambitious personality. Part of him yearns to become the clans leader some day, but through his moons he realised how unlikely this was the path Starclan had laid out for him. He's not unfaithful to Starclan, he knows they exist, and he does believe in them and their wisdom but he is realistic. He will not rely on the starry warriors to protect his clan, he believes this can only be done with tooth and claw. He's a harsh cat when it comes to judging others, if they show weakness or doubt in their own abilities he labels them as a waste of his time.
He worked to become the best warrior he can be, and if he feels his own apprentice does not put in the same amount of effort he will ask for a new mentor for his 'paw. It's difficult to gain his respect, especially for younger warriors who have yet to prove their loyalty in his eyes. He finds respect easily for older warriors and elders, understanding how many battles they have fought to gain their titles of Senior warriors or Elder. These cats are the ones Iceclaw is respectful to. Even if a leader is young and new, he will doubt their ability unless they are Shadowclans leader. He is loyal to his clan and Whitestar, ready to sacrifice himself for their new leader who to him, is the perfect cat to continue in leading Shadowclan to be the strongest clan in the forest. He's a proud cat who will rarely admit his own faults even if he himself notices them, getting closer to becoming an elder he has begun to take on the stereotypical traits of the grumpy Shadowclan elders when back in his day, apprentices knew all of their techniques well before their warrior ceremony.
Although he is not fond of apprentices, he admires Queens and their kits. To him Queens are incredible, and some of the most powerful cats in the forest. They bring new life and protect their young with as much ferocity as he'd expect from any warrior in the clan. They continuously stunned him with their determination. Iceclaw has a violent hatred for Kittypets, rogues and loners. These cats are a waste of his time, and not worth a moment of his thought. They don't abide by the warrior code or protect their kin with tooth and claw, they don't care for their sick, their elders or young. Rogues and Loners truly repulse Iceclaw. As for Kittypets, there is nothing worse than a kittypet in Iceclaws eyes, to rely on stupid Twolegs was a waste of time - what was the point in living if they had such an easy life? The thought of living with Twolegs was a nightmare he got from the moment he learned of such creatures. Iceclaw shows vague dislike for Thunderclan, the clan who likes to settle everything with words before claws. They were ridiculous, he wanted to battle - the point of being a warrior in his eyes was to use the skills they were taught to do right by their clan no matter who was hurt. Iceclaw never wanted to be tied down by a mate or kits and he never was, he never had many friends either - not that he cared too much. He was a fierce warrior who earned respect of his clans with many moons of his life dedicated to Shadowclan and Shadowclan alone. No cat could doubt his loyalty to the clan although he could be sharp tongued and rude to his clanmates - he would never hurt anyone intentionally in his clan. Everything he does, he does for a reason that he believes is valid.
Although Iceclaw created the illusion of being fearless, he fears illness and thunder and lightning. He hates the thought of dying due to illness, he wanted to die as an elder or in battle - dying of an illness terrifies him and he fears the idea of suffering for days or a moon before he finally past away. The noise and flashing light of thunder and lightning frightens him due to the noise and flashing lights.
HISTORY:
His mother planned her kitting badly, she gave birth in the heart of leaf bare and for weeks before her kits were born, she was sick with a fever and cough with no treatment working for her. Her name was Firestorm, a beautiful queen who kept her mates identity to herself though he was undoubtedly a Shadowclan cat - most cats assumed the couple had fallen out. When Icekit was born he was born during a snow storm with two other siblings, Ashkit and Tigerkit. Icekit was the weakest of the three being born the runt. All three kits were born ill and their mother died a moon after their birth from green cough, soon followed by Ashkit and Tigerkit. Icekit was cared for by a nursing queen called Amberfoot, a firey she-cat with an orange pelt like his mothers. It was a surprise to the clan that Icekit survived, being born as the runt of the litter and easily the weakest in comparison to his brothers. He was named Icekit by his birth mother Firestorm for the storm that raged on outside the nursery, he was a weakly and sick kits and was given the prefix of Ice to make him seem as though he was unbreakable, and that he would thrive during the coldest leaf bare he had experienced in his life. Icekit was apprenticed at 10 moons when he had grown a suitable size to become an apprentice after being such a sick kit.
Icepaw's mentor was the very kind and gentle Dawntail - a beautiful cream tabby who was fair and a good mentor to Icepaw. Though Icepaw wanted a cat that would push him harder than she did, he spent most of his spare time practicing his moves against thin air until he got them perfect. He had few friends in the apprentices' den, always too focused on honing his skills. Icepaw's loss so early in his life caused him to be shut off toward the other apprentices', he didn't want friendships that could possibly hurt him in the future - it just wasn't worth it in Icepaws eyes. Though with coaxing from the kind Dawntail, he opened up slightly and began to befriend fellow apprentices' even if he found them to be too rowdy for his liking. Icepaw stopped being hung up on his past truly believing he was wasting his time by not getting over the death of his kin, even with his adoptive mother he was never without family. This was a comfort to the apprentice. He was made a warrior at 17 moons.
He was made a warrior after a battle with a Thunderclan patrol who were threatening to cross. Iceclaw eagerly pounced into battle giving warriors scars to remember him by, scaring off the younger apprentices with a hiss and a few powerful swipe. He was determined to defeat them and prove himself worthy of his warrior name. When he returned to camp, Dawntail confirmed that he was prepared to receive his warrior name, and he became Iceclaw for his sharp and powerful claws that helped them beat the Thunderclan patrol. Iceclaw was a confident warrior who served his clan loyally, working hard and urging his clan mates to work just as hard as he was. A few seasons after becoming a warrior a she-cat began to notice him. Her name was Whitewind, a beautiful cat with a cream pelt and unique brown points and stunningly blue eyes. He couldn't help but fall for her, but she was just about as stubborn as he was. The two mated for four moons before splitting up due to too many arguments, which suited Iceclaw fine - a mate was never something he required for happiness.
During his period as a warrior Iceclaw was a passionate warrior. When a heavy storm struck one leaf bare Iceclaw discovered his hatred for both thunder and lightly, the flashing and then the loud striking noise made him reluctant to leave his nest feeling he was too exposed even in the pine tree-heavy forest of Shadowclan. After the storm passed, Thunderclan attempted to raid their territory, caught by a patrol led by Iceclaw. Iceclaw fought ferociously, the fight escalated to being more than just a border scuffle when one of the Thunderclan warriors almost lost their life. Iceclaw called off the battle, claiming their leaders would settle the argument in another way.
He received his first apprentice, "Thistlepaw", and eager but clumsy tom cat. Iceclaw was a harsh mentor, he knew this cat had potential but the kit spent far too much time playing jokes on his fellow apprentices, as a punishment for this - Iceclaw insisted his training wasn't complete for moons after he was well capable of becoming a warrior. After Thistlepaw because Thistlestep he and Iceclaw got along terribly - mostly because of Iceclaws irritable personality and how much energy Thistlestep had. He often spent most of his time curled up in the warriors nest or hunting for his clan. It was when their then leader ordered him and Thistlestep to practice their battling skill for an up coming battle with Thunderclan. Iceclaw had injured his dew claw a few moons prior during a hunting patrol where he had almost ripped the claw off completely. He and Thistlestep began training but things grew far too intensive and soon claws were ripping fur and blood was being spilled by clanmates. Iceclaw had no immediate response to this battle - he only reacted as though this tom before him was an enemy warrior. Iceclaw was thrown to the side by Thistlestep making him skid into a tree, attempting to slow his collision he gripped onto the earth dragging it with him and the force from his previous apprentices throw ripped off his already damaged dew claw. Iceclaw was brought back to camp, and cared for by the medicine cats. He had to find new ways of hunting and fighting, and he did so on his own - occasionally asking Dawntail who had become an elder for aid. Both Dawntail and Whitewind were his only real friends in the clan - though he never really spoke to them all that often. Once Thunderclan attacked Iceclaw was still suffering pain in his paw and leg when he fought against warriors. His opponent Longtail ripped her claws along his muzzle leaving him with the disgusting scar above his nose. After this battle Iceclaw lived a normal life of a warrior, protecting his borders and hunting for elders for seasons to come.
