NAME: Coalkit - Coalpaw - Coal?
GENDER: male
AGE: 4 moons
CLAN: shadowclan
POSITION: kit
SHORT DESCRIPTION: Pure black tom with forest green eyes.
APPEARANCE:
Body/Size || Because he was in the first litter for his mother, because she was a lithe she-cat, and because of the fact that Leaf had been practically starving to death while having kits growing in her belly, made Coalkit and his sisters all smaller than normal. Even for his age, Coal is small, but he is larger than his sisters. He was born first, which was probably another factor that helps him be larger than them. As of right now, he is small and lithe, no hint as to how large he will grow other than paws that are too large for his body. When he get's older, he will start to bulk out some more. As a warrior, he will end up being a medium sized feline. If he had been born under different circumstances, he may have been a tall, muscular tom, towering over most others. But alas, it was not to be. Coal's face is both angular and rounded. If his face had been more of a straight triangle, he might have seemed more domineering and threatening, but the roundness to his cheeks and forehead, coupled along with the always roundness of his eyes, make Coal have a more approachable look about him.
Coat || Pure, ink black fur covers this kit from whisker tip to tail tip. Even his nose is black! His paw pads and claws all match, except for his hind two paws. The two pads on his hind paws are a liver color and his claws on those paws are white/clear. It's strange as he has not a single white hair on his body, let along near those paws, to create something like that. His coat is thin and short, not helpful with being in leaf-fall, along with the upcoming leaf-bare. It will grow a little thicker in time, but not much.
Eyes || Coal's eyes started out Kitten Blue, the dark blue-grey coloring all kittens start out with when they first open their eyes. But as he get's older, his eyes start to change into green. Not bright, leaf green like his mother (whom he never really knew), nor soft green or pale green-yellow. Not even that green that is more hazel with amber or brown mixed in. No, this tom's eyes are the colors of pine needles in the sunlight, of foliage beneath the shadow of branches, of grass glistening with dewdrops. Coalkit's eyes are of forest green. Not only that, but they glisten with curiosity, shine with intelligence, burn with driving ambition. At times they will even darken with mistrust like clouds hiding the forest or become stormy with fury like a thunderstorm whipping the undergrowth to and fro. These green eyes show all his emotions.
PERSONALITY:
~Curious~
Coal is still a kit which means he is curious. He wants to know everything about everything, especially about clan life. He can often get into trouble because of this vast curiosity. Even when he doesn't let his search for knowledge lead, he is still curious and can sometimes be found outside of camp, getting into trouble.
~Intelligent~
In his green eyes, you can sometimes swear you can see some kind of knowledge that a kit his age shouldn't have but then in the next second you see the playfulness and innocence that you normally see within a kit. Coal sometimes seems to know things that you wouldn't expect him to know.
~Temperamental~
Coalkit has a temper but it's not one that flares to life as soon as you make him angry. No, this temper is like a burning coal (no pun intended) inside of him and he stokes the fires until it becomes a white hot rage. Then, when he finds the perfect time to get you back, he will and it will be much worse than what you did to him. He absolutely never forgives and never forgets. So it would be wise not to make him mad. Ever.
~Quiet~
Coal has bouts where he won't say a word, just looks at you, but other times the kit in his comes out and he won't stop talking or he'll start playing a game with his siblings. He get's quieter the angrier he becomes, he get's louder the happier he is. When he is alone, he stays quiet, watching others. Sometimes, even being within a group of cats, he can stay so quiet they hardly know he's there until he starts talking once more.
~Ambitious~
He wants to protect his family and he believes that to do so would be to become the best warrior in the forest territories. He dislikes the current leader, Rowanstar, and wants to become a better leader than him. He will do anything to make that happen so he can forever protect his sisters.
~Distrustful~
Coal has natural distrust for others. Sometimes he even feels slight distrust of Iceclaw but then he remembers that the old tom saved his life, saves his sisters' lives, and he shakes that distrust off. He's mostly distrustful of the cats in the clan because he has seen a few cats give them strange glances. There are also a few certain cats he just outright hates and he has no idea why. He doesn't really care though. If he hates them then he figures he must have a good reason, like instinct or something. Coal doesn't trust easily and he does't trust anyone outside of Shadowclan and barely anyone in Shadowclan.
~Protective~
Coal is extremely protective of his three younger sisters, like the good older brother he is. He'd do anything for his family and that family also includes Iceclaw, the old tom who found them. His protectiveness is limited though. He'll let his sisters get into trouble, but once someone start picking on them, he is instantly on them, no matter how large or experienced they are. No one hurts his family, but he will let his sisters stick up for themselves to a point. If he gets any friends, he will probably be almost as protective of them as he is of his family, but he will always put his family first.

A little black tom kit was born the only male kit out of a litter of four to a loner she-cat named Leaf. Their blood father was unknown. Their mother, Leaf, died during birth. She had been too weak from starvation and a wound from a fox, and it was amazing she had had all four kits before she passed. It was also a miracle that the same fox that had created her unhealed wounds, hadn't found the little family.
The black kit was found with his three sisters by an older, gruff tom that belonged to a large group of cats. The large grey tom took them in, ignoring any protests from his clanmates within Shadowclan, and named the four little bundles. The black tom was named Coalkit, the Brown tabby she-kit was named Heatherkit, the white calico she-kit that looked like their mother was named Petalkit, and the tortoiseshell she-kit was named Birchkit.
Their story starts from when the grey warrior named Iceclaw first finds them...

**A hidden fact about Coal is that he was born the exact same time that Coalpaw (my previous character) died.
