☀ OTTERGAZE ☀
name: otterkit - otterpaw - ottergaze
gender: male
age: twenty-three moons
clan: riverclan
position: warrior
short description: A brown tabby tom with silver-green eyes.
appearance:
Ottergaze is a slightly larger than an average cat, strong and stocky from excercise and training, he would be rather formidable, if not for the fact he almost always seems lazy or tired, whether he is or not. Gray-green eyes sparkle in a way that makes one want to trust him, even when other instincts warns that he shouldn't be trusted.
He has unusually large paws. It's strange, but he does. They look almost out of place on his body, even though he is sturdily built. He manages to pad silently with them, however, and is usually quieter than most when walking.
His dull brown tabby fur is short and rough, kept adequately clean. Whatever he does with his fur, however, it cannot hide the dullness of the brown colour. His silver-green eyes seems playful, always alert, despite the dullness of their colour.
personality:
Ottergaze is an extremely perceptive cat. Nothing escapes his notice, and although he doesn't express his feelings extremely well, manages to notice everyone else's reactions. He knows things, however, is extremely secretive about his knowledge, telling no one unless it might harm his clan. He rarely speaks in any case, and will often only acknowledge others with a nod of his head.
The tom is loyal, almost to an extreme. His first loyalty is to the clan, then the code, and the clan leader. All his other relations come next, and is usually forgotten. This is also why he rarely finds any friends, as he tends to neglect them. His blunt way of speak, when he does, is also why he is usually alone. And he's happy that way. He definitely prefers solitude, and time alone to think and contemplate.
Despite his outwardly stoic and stern appearance, Ottergaze does, infrequently, have a sense of humor. He is young, after all, and not all his time is spent doing his duty. There's a time for play and a time for work, and although most of his time is taken up by work, he does acknowledge the need for amusement, as well
history:
The tom was born the second oldest in a litter of four, with one older sister and two younger brothers. The litter was pronounced a healthy litter, and yet the behaviour of her oldest son puzzled Otterkit's mother, Dawnleap. While the other kits would romp around in the fields outside, the Tom would do nothing but watch them. At first, she was worried about sickness, but it baca me clear as time wore on that the tom was a healthy one, just one that was strangely quiet. He wasn't a goody-two-shoes, not at all. He just never joined in.
Even as a kit, he was the most obedient, or the most quiet. He kept to himself, and never bothered with games, or trying to sneak out of the camp without being caught. He was excited by the prospect of becoming an apprentice, but even that enthusiasm died away quickly. He was, however, protective of his siblings. He wasn't the oldest, but by far the most responsible. Somehow, he had a way of keeping track of everyone, even when they became apprentices. Unless asked, however, he would never tell anyone where exactly his siblings were.
His apprenticeship was rather dull. He excelled in training, but never worked more than he had to. His skill at stalking prey was excellent, though his agility was less so. Even then, he performed exceptionally well in his tests.
Ottergaze's warrior ceremony was eleven moons ago, and his suffix, -gaze, was given in honour of his sharp eyes and way of knowing everything around the clan. Along with him, his siblings were also given their warrior names. Of his younger siblings, Pheasantpaw became Pheasantleap, and Brookpaw became Brookstone. His older sister became Cloudwhisper.
His life continued. He worked diligently, never attracting any attention. There was never anyone special for him, although there was a few that may have wanted his attention.
It was in his sixth winter as a warrior that his youngest brother fell sick. Pheasant wasn't the strongest of the litter, and the winter was rather harsh. Overwork and lack of food combined with the harsh winter caused him to fall sick. At first, Ottergaze kept to his sick brother's side but he was eventually sent away, for fear of him catching the disease. His brother managed to recover, but was never the same, always weak, and had a wheezing tone to his words.
In any case, Ottergaze survived, perhaps he was more serious since his brother's sickness, but his stoic outwards behaviour ensured that few noticed. He kept to himself. As long as he worked, all would be well.
