☀ blackpaw ☀
name: blackkit - blackpaw - blackrabbit
gender: female
age: 7 moons
clan: windclan
position: apprentice
short description: black, small, tailless she-cat with yellow eyes.
appearance:
Blackpaw's name sums her looks up quite nicely, and her nickname, Blackberry, does an even better job. She's small and has a compact, strong body. A good word to describe her overall appearance, besides "black", is "round". Her lack of a tail only rounds her silhouette even more. Her limbs are rather short, but her back legs are especially powerful. This combination of traits leads her to have a very rabbit-like gait, hopping with her back legs more than trotting. Her eyes are bright yellow-green. As she grows older, Blackpaw will develop fairly heavy fur rusting (turning brown in sunlight)-- maybe she'll be called Brownrabbit.
personality:
Courteous: Blackpaw always known the importance of respect to higher-ranking cats. Not only does she have a good grip on her emotions, she also has learned the etiquette of the clans well. Her speech tends to be slightly formal and she never hesitates to do favors for senior warriors and elders, genuinely enjoying their company more than kits and other young apprentices.
Trusting: While you wouldn't expect a cat that resembles a rabbit so heavily to be like this, Blackpaw quickly gives her trust out to others. She firmly believes that WindClan will always work together and trust is the only way to keep it running. It's a matter of time before she gets burned by somebody, but right now she can't see it happening.
Loving: Blackpaw tries her hardest to keep the cats that enjoy her presence happy and soaks up their emotions like a sponge. She can be easily manipulated this way.
Tactician: Blackpaw, as time goes on, will show a great knack for strategy and planning. She's confused by (and admires) cats that can just run straight into battle without a plan and work off of instinct. Instead, she prefers to plan out things, memorize the layout of the land, and scratch out maps. It's therapeutic for her.
Slow to anger: Even for an apprentice, Blackpaw's good at holding her tongue and staying calm. However, once she gets to a certain point, she'll boil over, so to prevent this she lets the anger slowly leak out as passive-aggression. Some are intimidated by how the only evidence Blackpaw gives to show she's angry is more clipped speech and a few small jabs every once in a while.
Low self-esteem: Sometimes, Blackpaw's history of never standing out catches up to her and makes her self-esteem plummet below the already-low levels it hangs at usually. She keeps quiet about this to cats she's not especially close to, covering it up with lies that she's just feeilng a bit sick today or something along those lines.
history:
It's usually the first memory for the older cats in the Clan when they think of Blackpaw. It was a cold, dark leaf-bare night, one just after a blizzard, and one of the toms of the Clan, Batwhisker, had brought in a tiny kit, letting others wonder about her origins. On her coat hung the smell of a half-feral loner queen, and cats quickly connected the dots and understood this kit was the result of a fling between Batwhisker and some barn cat. Word had spread that Batwhisker was only having this relationship because he and his mate couldn't bear kits and he was too embarrassed to ask one of the queens of the clan to be a surrogate. Still wanting his bloodline to continue, Batwhisker seduced a barn cat in secret, broke things off when she got pregnant, and essentially stole one of the weaned kits when she was off hunting.
Obviously, Batwhisker's mate wasn't happy about this. He grew distant from Batwhisker but still felt a lingering trace of protectiveness for his "daughter". Batwhisker, once he saw the error in his ways, decided that he still had a kit to take care of but wanted her to live as normal of a life as possible. The kit was named Black-kit, the most unassuming name possible, and Batwhisker tried to leave her in the care of another queen-- however, she quickly rejected any new mothers and stuck with her only relative in the Clan. Batwhisker grudgingly accepted that he'd have to care for this kit no matter what,
Sometimes, when Black-kit was tired of her father's company, she'd talk with the cat she knew as a second father. While her two fathers rarely could see eye to eye, they could at least agree that Black-kit deserved to be cared for no matter how strange her origins were. Black-kit never got too close to her other dad, but she deeply wished they could be back together since she could tell they both still had some feelings for each other. Unfortunately, once Black-kit became Blackpaw and got a mentor, she never had time to talk these things out with her dads and had to start bottling up her emotions and focusing on becoming as good at hunting and fighting as any machine.
