☀ SNAKEJAW ☀
NAME: stripekit - stripepaw - snakepaw - snakejaw
GENDER: male
AGE: 72
CLAN: riverclan
POSITION: warrior
SHORT DESCRIPTION: A large muscular tom cat with amber eyes.
APPEARANCE:
Born as a handsome kit with a broad frame and muscular body. His pelt is a rough texture, short but thick. Snakejaw as a dark brown tabby coat with clearly defined stripes of a darker shade marking his body giving him his original name of "Stripekit". He's a large muscular cat with long legs, large powerful paws and a long tail that's tipped cream. His muzzle is the same cream colour, the dark primary colour of his pelt making the pale colour stand out giving him a striking appearance. Snakejaws paws are the same cream color excluding his back left paw which is the same dark brown as his stripes. His are large almond shaped, lined with a dark brown perimeter with a thin pointed pupil in the center. His iris' are a warm amber, the edged lined with dark brown and green flecks. His ears are tall and rounded with a large scar down his left ear from a battle when he was an apprentice.
From his many moons serving as a warrior Snakejaws body is covered with scars from various battles though he has a three prominent ones. The one across his muzzle just above his nose, it's a long and jagged dark pink hairless patch on his muzzle. His chest as a long deep scar scoring from just between his forelegs to just below the beginning of his rib cage. His third scar is on his right fore paw where is dew claw used to be - a deep bald spot on his leg from the removal of is claw. He received his name "Snakejaw" from his deformed jaw, an accident that caused him to have a deformed jaw, it tilts to the right side of his face displaying his large fangs making him appear menacing to most cats.
PERSONALITY:
As a kit Snakejaw was quite the handful, he was as energetic as any kit waiting to become a warrior. His energy levels were well matched by his curiosity. He was often found organizing his den mates into small kit patrols to explore Riverclans territory this made for Snakejaw being quite the troublesome kit. He was in trouble more often than not. He was outgoing from the moment he was kitted, as Stripekit he was social and loud - always disturbing the nursing queens from a well needed rest. As a kit he was ambitious like all kits usually are, wanting to be the leader of Riverclan from the moment his eyes opened. Though this ambition soon faded away as he realized how many hard decisions a clan leader needed to make - and he wasn't sure if he could handle that sort of pressure. He was friendly and civil from a young age, with a calm mind in battle. He doesn't appreciate warriors trekking over onto Riverclan territory but he would rather solve things sensibly before causing more issues for the clan that it needed.
When Stripekit was apprenticed his personality remained the same except he became incredibly confident in his own abilities. Often too confident for what he was capable of doing - becoming eager to begin a battle at the beginning of his training which was unusual for the young tom cat. This often caused a little too much trouble than Stripepaw could actually handle. His eagerness to be an amazing warrior earned him his deformed jaw, not listening to his mentor and believing he was well capable to climb higher than advised. After this you could say the apprentice learned his lesson. He realized he wasn't an all-knowing cat like he had thought, he needed to learn and he did so more obediently after his accident. Agreeing with his name change that his father wanted for him, he wanted the clan to know he wasn't ashamed of his faults as a young apprentice. Plus - the new name was something he thought sounded more menacing that "Stripepaw". So Stripepaw happily became Snakepaw and with his new name he seemed to become a new cat. He became more analytical, incredibly sharp and always ready to assess a battle and has a brilliant mind for construction if the camp needed anything done. Snakepaw was a popular cat despite his menacing name and jaw, he got along with every cat quite happily. Though he could owe his social abilities to his brother Ravenpaw - the two were a comedic pair who would constantly display their love for comedy and appreciation for the calm outlook on life.
Snakepaw was a calm and fun cat, always ready to hunt or patrol. He truly loved the life of serving his clan, even in battle he adored the idea of being able to protect his clan. This was an example of his loyalty to Riverclan, although he would happily converse with other clan cats, Snakepaws loyalty lay completely with Riverclan, willing to jump into a pool of lava if his leader ordered it. This made him a little bit reliant, even with his sharp mind he often relied on the higher ranking cats of the clan to order him about, always listening and obeying their orders even if he thought he had a slightly better idea. When Snakepaw became Snakejaw he had definitely mellowed out from the time he was first apprenticed. He had become patient, understand and kind. He understood how to empathize with other cats especially those injured. He's an optimistic cat but he definitely has his faults.
Snakejaw although an overall genuinely nice cat, has a horrible temper. Although it is rarely seen, when he loses track of his emotions he can become irrational and rude. You certainly wouldn't want to wake Snakejaw during a nap, he his sharp tongued in the morning as most cats typically are. Due to his accident as an apprentice Snakejaw has an incredible fear of heights, he refuse to climb onto even the smallest of the trees - no matter how close to the ground the branches are. He loathers trees and the height of them.
HISTORY:
mother: Tawnyleaf [deceased]
father: Stormheart [deceased]
siblings: Ravenwing [alive]. + Silvertail [unknown].
nieces / nephews: Sagekit [unknown] + Russetkit [unknown]
mentor: Cloudwing
apprentices: Volepaw [deceased], Fernpaw - Ferntail [alive]
Born to the beautiful and kind Tawnyleaf and powerful Stormheart, His parents were wonderful cats, his mother kind and nurturing while his father was almost like a mentor to his kits - wanting to be the strongest they could be for their clan. There was a slightly issue with Stripekits name, Stormheart disagreed that his son have a name he didn't believe suited him. Claiming the name was too "sweet" for his little warrior. While his sibling - Ravenkit had the name of a winged creature, dark as the night while his daughter Silverpaw had a beautiful name for the beautiful she-cat. He only had an issue with Stripekits name, though Tawnyleaf easily shushed his whining over the name. Like any kit he played games as the leader of his clan, with his sibling Ravenkit as his deputy, the two were the best of friends. Stripekit demanded to be called "Stripestar" by Ravenkit, their older sibling Silverpaw would often scold them for being to loud and disturbing her though she secretly loved taking part in their kit games. She could often be found tossing moss for her two younger siblings. Stripekit and Ravenkit idolized their older sister, she was a well liked cat, beautiful and skilled. Stripekit wanted to be just like her.
Stripekit would encourage his brother and den mates to leave the safety of the nursery and camp walls to go adventuring! He would rally them all into small patrols and lead them as though he was a clan leader. They often got lost in the territory causing havoc back at camp and creating irritated patrols that were sent out to look for the devious kits. When Stripekit was given his apprentice name Stripepaw alongside his brother now Ravenpaw, they were given first time mentors. For Stripepaw he was given Cloudwing, a beautiful pure white she-cat with stunningly blue eyes, and for Ravenpaw he was given to Cloudwings litter mate - Breezetail and grey she-cat with long clean fur. They often trained together due to both mentors being siblings who were more than eager to share their first time apprentices' with each other. Stripekit was an outgoing apprentice still looking up to his older sister, Silvertail. He was excitable and a little bit too "eager". He was quick and smart learner, finding it easy to learn battle moves and remember scents and during a chase after a squirrel Stripepaw miss timed his steps, skidding into a tree and completely removing his dew claw. He was well looked after in the medicine cat den, but scolded harshly by Cloudwing for disobeying her orders and hunting squirrels instead of fish like she had ordered. But although Stripepaw liked Cloudwing he continued to disobey her regularly.
At his first gathering two moons into his training, he was in awe of the fourtrees - the mighty trees that towered over the cats that demanded they keep their peace. He saw how big all of the others cats were but this didn't stop him from boasting, still believing himself to be Starclans gift to Riverclan; Though most cats just shrugged it off due to his young age. He attended this gathering without Ravenpaw, Tawnyleaf or Silvertail though his father Stormheart was present.
Five moons into his training Stripepaw was still disobedient toward Cloudwing, believing her orders were just because she was too scared to do what he did. This particular time he climbed one of the large trees on the way to a short trip to the fourtrees on the look out for herbs for the medicine cat. Stripepaw took it upon himself to challenge himself by climbing the tallest tree. Even though Cloudwing tried to call him down, Stripepaw was half way up the tree when he fell, bumping off of branches on the way down before luckily falling on fallen leaves from the current season of leaf bare. He was unconscious after hitting the ground, Cloudwing running him back to the medicine cat den immediately. He had broken his left hind legs and twisted his jaw horrendously. His teeth showed on the right side of his face, his leg twisted but prepared for a full heal. Stripepaw's training was put on hold for five moons due to not being able to eat properly and of course for the time it took for his leg to get its strength back. His mother, father and siblings were frantic, visiting him daily. Only his father seemed amused, saying his jaw looked like that of a snakes, "perhaps they should start calling him Snakepaw." Stripepaw said nothing at the time but he liked the sound of the name Snakepaw, though his mother snorted at the joke and pushed Stormheart out from the elders den telling him to stop spouting nonsense. When Stormheart visited him the next day, Stripepaw requested he ask for a name change, he knew it was allowed - it had happened had happened a few times before.
Stormheart for more than happy to do this, he had never been fond of the name "Stripe" - his mother Tawnyleaf, just purred in amusement and agreed to his demands as well. She was happy the her son had survived the fall and that he was taking his new appearance quite happily. Ravenpaw and Silvertail just started making "Ssss" noises around him, imitating snakes as soon as his name was changed. Snakepaw had an easy life of training after this, of course Ravenpaw was made a warrior at twelve moons where as Snakepaw eventually earned his warrior name at seventeen moons of age. He was given the name "Snakejaw" and he couldn't have been happier with his name claiming he could strike fear into the kits of the other clans! He wanted to become a fierce legend told to scare kits because of his twisted jaws and menacing name. Ravenwing generally ignored Snakejaws humorous ramblings.
When the siblings were twenty moons they learned their sister, Silvertail was having kits and the whole family couldn't have been happier. Both of their parents had moved to the elders den, though still very much involved with their kits lives. Silvertail gave birth to two sweet kits; Sagekit and Russetkit. Though when they were born a loner made his way to the camp claiming to be their father. Silvertail admitted this was the truth and apologized to her family and clan for disobeying the warrior code, revealing that she would be leaving the clan with this tom cat. Snakejaw was heart broken when she left with her kits, his beloved sister had left them. The family that was unusually close were separated and all of them were heartbroken. His mother Tawnyleaf passed away a few moons after from Greencough, their closely knit family was falling apart bit by bit. Ravenwing and Snakejaw were affected the worst - their father was more familiar with the death of family members than his kits. Ravenwing and Snakejaw became close the two never wavering from their warrior duties acting as each others support. After the mourning of the loss of their family members Snakejaw was given his first apprentice Volepaw.
Snakejaw and Volepaw got on well, an intelligent tom cat who was eager to learn. Ravenwing, not having an apprentice at this time helped out occasionally with the training of Volepaw. He took Volepaw into a battle with Thunderclan for Sunningrocks which Riverclan unfortunately lost. Volepaw fought alongside his den mates from the apprentice den with 5 moons of training under his belt, while Snakejaw fought against Thunderclans deputy earning him the long scar along his chest. Snakejaw and Volepaw were unsuccessful in the patrol to reclaim sunningrocks for Riverclan but Volepaw had been successful in his own personal battles, fighting cats away easily. Volepaw had smooth training for his moons leading up to his warrior ceremony. But the morning of his ceremony Volepaw had gone on a patrol with Snakejaw, Ravenwing and Breezetail. It was greenleaf and twolegs were more than eager to stray a little too far into Riverclan territory. A twoleg kit caught hold of Volepaw near the river, when Volepaw escaped he fell from a height into the river, his head hitting off the river bed killing him instantly. Snakejaw was frantic as he retrieved his apprentices body from the river when the twoleg had left. Snakejaw was horrified - his apprentice and friend died the day of his well deserved ceremony. Ravenwing attempted to comfort Snakejaw but the tom cat shrugged him off claiming he was alright.
Snakejaw mourned for moons at the loss of his apprentice, refusing to take another for six seasons. At this point his father had died of old age, Ravenwing had had his first apprentice and Silvertail had still never showed her face near Riverclan territory. He was a senior warrior when he was given Fernpaw for an apprentice. The two got along excellently, Fernpaw clearly fearful of him because of his appearance originally but soon the two were a close as they could be. Snakejaw noticed how friendly Fernpaw was, he encouraged him not to cause trouble and to make friends whenever he could but not to forget his loyalties - even if he had friends in other clans he would still eventually meet them in battle. Snakejaw earned his scarred ear when Fernpaw accidentally caught hit by mistake in a training session - Snakejaw wasn't too bothered, another scar wouldn't change his appearance with his horribly warped jaw. Snakejaw knew Fernpaw would be his last apprentice due to planning his retirement to the warriors den soon. He caught Fernpaw having a battle with a den mate that was far too serious than Snakejaw would've liked which earned Fernpaw his only scars which Snakejaw ended up scolding him horribly for. If Snakejaw had not hurt his jaw at such a young age he wouldn't have been as careless to just pick up scars in training. Though despite this, Fernpaw was made a warrior, given the name "Ferntail".
Now Snakejaw is close to becoming an elder and he still waits for Silvertails return.
