She has a skinny physique, which makes her very fast. However, she isn't very muscular, which doesn't do her much good in fights. Clearpaw was born as Clearkit to Whitewind and an unknown father. (Her real father is Iceclaw, but nobody knows that, not even Whitewind or Iceclaw themselves). She had been sort of shy as a kit, and tended to do her own thing. She wasn't good at taking directions, which got her into loads of trouble at times. There was one time when she was only a moon old - she snuck out of the camp at night while it was dark and no one was looking. She'd only wanted some fun in her life - the other kits played games and had fun, but that just wasn't really her thing. So, she had decided to go out exploring on an adventure. She hadn't made it very far before she'd fallen into the icy-cold river that flowed through ShadowClan's territory. Copperwing had been collecting herbs at the time, and the medicine cat had helped her out and saved her life. She had been indebted to Copperwing ever since.
When Clearpaw was about halfway through her kithood at an age of three moons, she began to notice that she had very sensitive senses, which allowed her to sniff and hear things that others couldn't. This also made it so she wasn't very good at fighting... with all the noise, she could barely focus, and she quickly got headaches (or so she found when she was an apprentice). This did, however, make her very good at hunting, for she could detect prey from quite far away (again, as she learns when she's an apprentice.) One day when she was about to be of apprentice age, she stumbled into the medicine cat's den, suffering from another one of her headaches that she'd gotten when trying to make an attempt at play-fighting with the other kits. Copperwing had been watching her growing up, and noted that her affinity for smell might be good to sniff out herbs. ShadowClan's medicine cat had asked Clearpaw to be her apprentice, and she'd accepted gratefully.
