Gingerstep Gingerstep could feel an angry snarl forming at the back of her throat, but she pushed it down. Was the deputy trying to tease her? Of course he wasn't. "Of course I'll make it out alive." Gingerstep answered, looking steadily at Littleflame, surprised at the cool tone of her voice. Her pride would not allow her to jibe back openly. "Today seems to look like a busy day, does it not? I am sure that the clan is starving for breakfast. We should get going, should we? After all, the faster and more efficient we do it, the quicker bellies will get full." Gingerstep added sweetly, her last words were somehow directed towards Smalltail, with a heavy emphasis on 'efficiency'. Gingerstep had to admit, the way Smalltail lazed around and whine was starting to get on her nerves. It irritated her.
She was more than ready to turn tail and leave, when Starlingstar's cough caught her attention. She looked up at the rock expectantly. This better be important. Her mind whispered.

Starlingstar
Starlingstar just waited as all of his warriors finished bickering at each other. It was good to see a little competition within the clan it kept everyone working their best. Even though they all ended up here they would get their duties which they had before heading out on their way. Gingerstep and Smalltail were going to do well hunting but maybe it was good that the she-cats were challenging each other because their new apprentices were the complete opposites. Which it was down to that. He got the attention of all of them. Which wasn't hard to do. He may have not come out of his den lately in the past couple moons but he was still their leader and he had been for all or most of their lives. He had their respect. Which was nice. Though scanning each cats face Mintfeather seemed to know that this didn't involve her, but he knew that she missed the warrior life and he felt like she would be happy to witness this. The others were confused and Littleflame seemed really confused. The black tom hadn't talked to his deputy about this. Because like his old stubborn self he knew that no matter what the younger tom thought Starlingstar wasn't going to change his mind about which cat got who. There were some more shy cats in the group that were going to be made apprentices and Starlingstar knew that a more experienced warrior would be better to help them come out of their shell. Then there were the loud ones that almost need experienced warriors to rein them in. But Starlingstar though that maybe a trouble maker needed to train another trouble maker so they could both get a lesson about rules together. Once all in the group had settled down he looked at them. "There are a big group of kits that are going to be made apprentices." Then he smiled slightly, "All of you except Mintfeather will be receiving one of these young cats." He first looked at Littleflame, and dipped his head, "My apologizes for not consulting with you but I had already made up my mind." Then he continued on. "I will be taking on an apprentice as well. His name will be Basilpaw a young tom who is a bit on the shy side but I believe a shove in the right direction will do him some good. Plus its time for me to take on another apprentice since I have not done so since my days as a warrior."Then he turned to Littleflame his deputy. "You will be receiving a young tom named Mousepaw, he is quite shy that I have noticed that his father has pushed him too young. Not something I like to see but I think if he had the right training from an experienced warrior he will see that he doesn't have to be pushed to his breaking point to be a great warrior. I believe that you will be perfect for this young cat Littleflame." Then it was Smalltail's turn. She was in for a rude awakening and a sort of karma. She would be receiving Mousepaw's sister a loud, in your face cat, to be named Sandpaw. "Smalltail, you will be Mousepaw's sister Sandpaw. She is lively and well not afraid to tell you what she's thinking. Though she is very eager to learn and is very family oriented. I have noticed from my den she likes to protect her siblings. But for sure you will have your paws full."Gingerstep was the last one. She was a great warrior and would be perfect for the young tom. "Finally Gingerstep you will be receiving Sandpaw's and Mousepaw's brother Tigerpaw. He tends to be more on the shy side but with your expertise I believe that you will bring out the confidence in this young tom. He will be a great first apprentice." Thats when the leader stood up and stretched out his legs. He dipped his head to his warriors, deputy and medicine cat. "Now I will be off to the rest of my patrol. I know you all will do a fine job on teaching these young cats what they need to know to be great Windclan warriors." Thats when he just padded past his little group of cat and headed on the moor patroling the rest of his territory before he would head into camp and would then have to train his apprentice to be a warrior.

smalltail let out a mock gasp of shock at littleflames comment on her ability to hold a conversation, just because she could talk freely to a rock didn't mean that she was useless to the clan. her nub where her tail should be twitched as she lifted her head, "i'd never talk a thing to death! imagine, littleflame, how would i love if i talked you to death? my one, and only. my favourite ginger - the light of my life." she mewed dramatically as though she was a young apprentice fawning over the handsome warrior who had just saved the day. smalltails ears twitched in acknowledgement at gingersteps words; she couldn't be interested in the cats eagerness to be efficient and was thankful for starlingstars cough that slowed the ginger cat down.
at the mention of apprentices', smalltails eyes lit up as she felt a slight smugness in her stomach at being given her first apprentice at thirteen moons. "Smalltail, you will be Mousepaw's sister Sandpaw. She is lively and well not afraid to tell you what she's thinking. Though she is very eager to learn and is very family oriented. I have noticed from my den she likes to protect her siblings. But for sure you will have your paws full." smalltail purred and dipped her head in the first respectful movement she had displayed all day. the lithe cat had met sandkit already, she actually really liked the young cat; perhaps starlingstar saw giving her sandkit as a form of punishment due to the cats outgoing personality when in fact, the two were more alike than any other pair in the clan; they'd become a force to be reckoned with - the ultimate windclan team.
smalltail grinned widely as starlingstar finished and before he padded away to continue his patrol, the young warrior purred after him, "thanks a mil'!" before turning wide green eyes filled with excitement. "maybe when you show mousekit around when she finally becomes a 'paw, me and sandkit will tag along, eh?" she got to her paws with a wide toothy grin stretched out on her face confidently as she continued. "after all, i know you can't stand to be without me for more than a few moments." and with that she turned her attention back to her negative nancy company and flicked her ears. "come on then, show me how a efficient you can be." she drawled lazily with a roll of her eyes before dipping her head in mintfeathers direction in a farewell and pouncing away with smooth elegant motions as she prepared for her hunt.

Mintfeather
Mintfeather had known the kits were coming of age to be apprentices, since she had been there when they had been kitted. What she was surprised about had been that Starlingstar hadn't spoken to his deputy about it before hand. She understood that the old tom didn't make a lot of decisions with the clan anymore, not when he had Littleflame, so she understood his wanting to make this decision himself. The off-white she cat nodded at the choices. She knew the kits and believed they would do well with these warriors. She glanced at Smalltail. Maybe she should tell Starlingstar that Smalltail and Sandpaw would actually be like two peas in a pod. No, he probably knew and had a plan in mind. She listened quietly as he told each cat who they were getting and what the kit's personalities were like. She thought the pairings were good. This is why he is our leader. she thought to herself. When he dipped his head to his clanmates, she dipped hers back in respect. She was a little worried about Basilkit. The young cat had been trough so much already and she just hoped he would do well with Starlingstar. She hoped being the leader's apprentice would help boost his confidence a little. She watched the black tom pad away and listened to Smalltail's bubbly chatter. The spotted she-cat laughed. "Hold on there Smalltail. Weren't you going to help me with the herbs?" Mintfeather asked, purring. Her silvery green eyes sparkled. "Actually, nevermind. With it being greenleaf, I don't need to restock my stores as much. I'll just take these back to camp and you can go hunting with Gingerstep. You can always help me out another time." She nudged the pouch full of herbs with her paw and then smiled at the warrior. "I'll be off too. Sorry for interrupting your alone time Littleflame. And Gingerstep, Smalltail, may Starclan bless you with a plentiful hunt." The medicine cat nodded to the warriors and headed off towards camp, the opposite direction of Starlingstar. Words || 354 OOC || Mintfeather, out. ^-^ Tagged || momo || Edda Rose || Kuwaki || Yuno
